3 MAKEUP TECHNIQUES TO MAKE YOUR EYES POP

In human psychology, the eyes are the first feature we are drawn to from a physical to an emotional level. Playing up and enhancing the eyes may not only make you feel incredible about yourself but can also attract other people’s attention towards you. From this, here are 3 tricks on how to make your eyes pop using makeup. 

Colour theory 

Each colour has a complementary colour - being the one that is opposite it on the colour wheel. When placed together, complementary colours appear brighter and more vibrant. 

Using this theory for makeup, it is widely accepted that using your eye colour’s complementary shade as eyeshadow will help them appear brighter and ‘pop’. For example;

• For blue eyes: Use orange, peach, apricot, or bronze eyeshadows 
• For green eyes: Use pink, red, or burgundy eyeshadows
• For brown eyes: Use purple, blue, plum, or silver eyeshadows

Eye Liner 

Eyeliner is a crucial step in helping create depth in the eyes. It can also be a great tool in helping design any eye shape you desire! 

To give the illusion of defined, feline eyes, use black kohl to line the waterline and lash line, as well as apply a flick/wing at the outer corners of the eyes.

To create the image of large, doe-like eyes, apply a flesh-toned eyeliner on the waterline and a darker eyeshadow just lining the lower lash line. For a more intense look, substitute the flesh-toned eyeliner for a white one.

Mascara

It is no surprise that mascara is one of the easiest and most crucial ways in making your eyes pop. Correctly applying mascara can elevate any eyeshadow look, or even used by itself it can enhance any eye colour. 

To properly apply mascara, first curl the lashes at the roots, followed by a good quality mascara that will lengthen your lashes to make your eyes appear more open, as well as thicken them to create the illusion of more defined eyes.
