No more bottled water! Change your water, Change your life.

No more bottled Water.

It’s been brought to my attention that in fact not all water is equal.

Back in the 80’s I lived in London and travelled the world modelling.

And one thing I learnt was the tap water I drank in London had been recycled through my body at least 7 times - goodness knows what it is now.

And not just that, it's loaded with chemicals, to keep the water clean, keep our teeth strong and keep the water at a 7PH.

So understanding this I started drinking bottled water in the belief it was so much better for me.

And arriving in Australia in the late 80’s with my bottled water, I got laughed at and asked “why would I spend money on bottled water, when tap water is free and in Australia we have some of the best water in the world."

So fast forward to 2020 and bottled water has become a 185 billion dollar industry, and is expected to reach US$ 334 billion by 2023.

And we know now what bottled water has done to the world…

So that tells me that there’s a lot of people in the world prepared to buy bottled water and pay upwards of $5 a bottle.

Why?

Like me did they believe it is better for them? I think so

Is it convenient?  Yes I think so

Did it make clean water more accessible to people living in countries where their water as deemed unsafe? Probably

But the truth is we need to change what we are doing! The world can not sustain all this plastic.

It’s estimated that up to 2.40 million tonnes of plastic are in our river ways, then enter the ocean each year.

Described as the "biggest trash dump in the world,” in the Northern Pacific Ocean all this plastic is accumulating, and covering an estimated surface area of 1.6 million square kilometers, an area three times the size of France.

As a result of sun exposure, waves, marine life, and temperature changes, this plastic is starting to deteriorate into micro-plastics.

Micro-plastics have been discovered floating within the water surface layers, from the top and as far down as the ocean floor.

The problem is once they become this small, micro-plastics are very difficult to remove and are becoming mistaken for food by marine animals.

And once plastic enters the marine food chain, it starts to effect us as our food source becomes contaminated.

We obviously can’t keep going like this.

So what’s the answer.

I believe we are at the beginning of a new paradigm shift and in the next 20 years there’s going to be a change about the way we do things.

Just like what microwaves did for heating food, Netflix did to Block buster and Uber did to taxi’s.
